Question: Can I create a bootable CD-ROM with PSXDEV?

Yes and no. First of all, you can't create a black CD-ROM; no one except SCE can. If you master and burn a CD-ROM it will definitely not work with an unmodified consumer PlayStation, only with special developer PlayStations (like the black Yaroze one). But: if your PlayStation has an ActionReplay + CAETLA you can choose the main executable and execute it directly from the CD-ROM. If the target PlayStation is not equipped with CAETLA it needs to be modified. Informations about mod-chipping a PlayStation can currently found in all game magazines for the PlayStation. They (the chip vendors and resellers) say this chip allows you to play imported games (which is somewhat illegal) but its main purpose is to play copied games (which is illegal if you don't own the original copy). In our case it is perfectly legal - as long as you keep doing it in your room and don't use this technology in the outside world.

You need CDRDAO. Install it on your box; try to find a RPM package for this. If you do not have CDRDAO installed as a RPM package, the psxdev-apps RPM package will complain about it. Just append --nodeps to the rpm command line, but make sure you have cdrdao in your path.
